Mirror Neurons and the Action Theory of Language Origins
نویسنده
چکیده
The research reported here attempts to understand how language may have originated from sensori-motor competences. Recently the observation of mirror neurons [1] has lead to the suggestion that there is not only a rich representation of motor action but also that this representation is used for multiple purposes: action execution, action planning, action imaging, and action recognition. Of particular importance is the observation that one agent can recognise an action plan of another one and that the same neurons are involved.

Mirror Neurons and (Inter)subjectivity: Typological Evidence from East Asian Languages
Language is primarily constituted by action and interaction based on sensorimotor information. This paper demonstrates the nature of subjectivity and intersubjectivity through the neural mechanism and typological evidence of sentence-final particles from East Asian languages and extends to the discussion of the relationship between them. I propose that intersubjecivity is a kind of embedded or ...

Recent studies have reported the discovery of a group of neurons in the motor cortex of the brain's gray. These neurons are called mirror neurons. Rizzolatti and colleagues in 1990s discovered the first mirror neuron system in monkeys in the University of Parma. Mirror neurons in brain are responsible for understanding the actions and intentions of others. The mirror neuron system has an import...

The new findings show that the brain has group of neurons which has mirror properties; these neurons called mirror neurons. Despite the fact there is no reliable physiological symptoms associated with Autism , it seems deficit in the mirror neurons in the prefrontal associated with this disorder. The purpose of this survey was finding the evidence on disordered function of the neurons in the ch...
متن کاملFrom grasp to language: embodied concepts and the challenge of abstraction.
The discovery of mirror neurons in the macaque monkey and the discovery of a homologous "mirror system for grasping" in Broca's area in the human brain has revived the gestural origins theory of the evolution of the human capability for language, enriching it with the suggestion that mirror neurons provide the neurological core for this evolution. However, this notion of "mirror neuron support ...
متن کاملThe ontogenetic origins of mirror neurons: evidence from ‘tool-use’ and ‘audiovisual’ mirror neurons
Since their discovery, mirror neurons—units in the macaque brain that discharge both during action observation and execution—have attracted considerable interest. Whether mirror neurons are an innate endowment or acquire their sensorimotor matching properties ontogenetically has been the subject of intense debate. It is widely believed that these units are an innate trait; that we are born with...
